Class 2 had fun wearing red for Red Nose Day.
Class 2 enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character for World Book Day.
Class 2 visited Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. Everyone loved seeing the Meerkat, owl and Sea Lion Shows. We went on the train ride to Earthquake canyon but we all managed to stay dry!
The second half of this term has been very busy in Class 2. In Literacy we have been looking at a book called 'The Naughty Bus' and have written our own endings to the story. We have carried on learning about the Great Fire of London and made some delicious bread in class, in a variety of shapes. We painted boxes to look like the houses in 1666 and cut out windows and doors and then went into the car park and set fire to the bakery and watched how the flames spread to the other houses.
In Science we have been learning about Electricity and we made a picture which needed a bit that would light up. We used batteries, wire and a bulb to make a compete circuit which would light up our picture. In Design Technology we designed, sewed and made a puppet.
This was the first time many of us had sewn! Lastly we have also rehearsed and performed our Christmas play with Class 1 which was called 'It's A Party'.
Class 2 are learning about the Great Fire of London this term and the children enjoy playing in the role play area which is a bakery.
Half the class have been going to Forest Schools and have had great fun making things and getting wet and muddy.
The whole class went to Bideford College and attended a Multiskills Festival last week and did lots of different skills.
The week before half term has been sustainability week and on Monday Class 2 learnt about compost bins at home and what minibeasts might be in there.
The Year 2's enjoyed a sleepover at school on a Friday night. They had a fantastic evening playing lots of games before eating take out pizza from Graylings. Then they watched a DVD and ate popcorn before brushing their teeth and settling into their sleeping bags. The next morning they ate breakfast before playing more games and then their parents arrived to take them home.
Class 2 have been getting very arty this term. We made our bunting to go to the Burton Art Gallery for the world record attempt and then got very messy doing paper mache to make shakers for the Olympic Torch relay. On the 29th May we had the opportunity to go to Bideford College and do some football skills and we met Wenlock the Olympic Mascot.
Class 2 have been learning about materials and to show them that glass was not a natural material we visited Dartington Crystal to see glass being made. We also painted a glass plate of our own and then went to Rosemoor for the afternoon. It was a great day out.
This term Class 2 are blasting off into space and learning about this topic. They have turned their role play area into a space rocket and are learning about it in many areas of the curriculum.
